This fabulous little pattern hack was shared in the Facebook support group (aka Fresh Pattern Party) by the lovely Louise from Belle Belle Handmade and has been posted here with permission.
To create this hack you will need:
Cut your rib knit according to the table below.
(Remember that the 'lines' on the ribbing should be running perpendicular to the length of the piece. I.e. The direction of the most stretch should be running along the width of the piece)
If you would prefer to use knit FABRIC for your leg openings, use the measurements in the table below. Remember again that the direction of most stretch should be running along the WIDTH of the piece. Also be sure to use knit fabric with good stretch and recovery (preferably with at least 5% spandex/lycra)

First you need to sew, overlock/zig zag and press your side seams and crotch.
Then take your piece of ribbing:
Fold with wrong sides together so that the short ends are matched, then overlock.
Next, fold length ways to make a cuff. This part was a bit tricky to photograph - the second pic is what it looks like partly unfolded.
Next with you nappy cover inside out match the crotch seam to the cuff seam (raw edges together) and pin.
This is the only pin I use because you want the ribbing to stretch out while you sew. Size 00 stretches perfectly over my machine. Sew with 1/4" (6mm) seam allowance.
TIP: Try to stretch the ribbing evenly as you sew it on to your leg opening.
Then overlock.
And Tadah!! Your ribbed leg holes are finished!
OPTIONAL: You can topstitch the legs if you want to.
Finally, finish the waistband of your nappy cover as explained in the pattern (page 20).
