“I started Tadah to make sewing joyful again - not stressful. I'm so glad you're here.”
The Tadah Story
When I was little, there was always the hum of a sewing machine in our house.
Mum stitched clothes for us and Dad (who was a parachuting instructor) mended his parachutes. His life quite literally depended on his stitches, so precision and care were part of our family fabric from the start.
Years later, after my first baby was born, I dusted off my old machine and fell back in love with sewing. But what should have been relaxing quickly became frustrating. I’d dream up an idea then choose the perfect fabric, only to end up tangled in confusing instructions, odd sizing, and patterns that didn’t seem written for real people. One afternoon, somewhere between a seam-ripper rage and a half-finished dress, I decided: there had to be a better way.
So, I started to draft my own patterns.
At first, I sold handmade clothes at local markets, never imagining what would come next.
Customers began asking for my patterns, so I started sharing them online. My very first release, the Butterfly Dress, sold hundreds of copies within hours. What began at a kitchen table soon grew into an award-winning pattern brand - earning recognition like the AusMumpreneur Handmade Award, Australian Craft Industry Award for Best Original Textile Design, and Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair Best Small Exhibit - but more importantly, a loyal community of over 40,000 makers worldwide.
When Dad asked me to jot down all the words that come to mind when I sew, one stood out - that little burst of pride when you hold something up and say, “Tadah!”
That feeling became our name and our north star.
Before Tadah, I was a primary school teacher, and that background shaped everything.
I write our tutorials the way I used to teach in the classroom - breaking each process into simple, bite-sized steps that guide you from your first stitch to that proud, “I made this!” moment.
Today, Tadah Patterns is for anyone who wants sewing to feel calm, creative, and achievable.
We’re here for the makers who sew during nap times, between shifts, or late into the night. Those who find confidence and joy in creating something with their own hands.
Because that’s what Tadah is really about: turning frustration into pride, thread by thread.
