Phew I made it! Day 7 and I've managed to sew my one solitary item for Kids Clothes Week. But what a beauty right?! This duffle coat pattern is awesome if we are allowed to say so ourselves!

It's a funny thing, because on KCW this season there's a lot of shorts and sundress action going on (of course, it's Northern hemisphere summer) while I finesse a herringbone winter coat! But, in line with this season's theme I think it's the perfect travel item. The thing we miss in Australia, at least in coastal NSW, are four distinct seasons. During an extended trip to North Carolina I simply loved the change of season. The wintery icy rain and occasional snow, the pollen blanketing everything when spring explodes, the hot dry summer, and the smell, colour and crunch of the autumnal leaves.

Autumn weather (which is Sydney's winter most of the time) is the perfect time for kids and outdoors and building fires and camping.

And if you're looking for the perfect autumnal camping lining to go with your outer wool, corduroy or felt, check these cuties out from Riley Blake, in stock at Muddy Ruffles:
